Children love kite flying when the wind
blows. A wonderful way for children to have fun and get exercise.
Kites can be purchased but it is much more satisfying for a child to
fly a kite that he or she has made.
It is very important for adults to
supervise where the child flies the kite. They must stay away from
overhead wires and stay away from the street. When you fly a kite, you
tend to look up at the kite and not watch the road.
Method:
Draw and cut out the
fish shape on a double thickness of paper.
You can make it as big as you wish.
Use coloured paper or use paints, markers or crayons on plain
paper.
Remember, tissue paper tears easily.
Glue the edges of
the two shapes together, leaving the tail and mouth open.
Make a wire hoop to
fit into the mouth circle.
Gardening wire works well.
Fold the paper edge
of the mouth over the wire and glue in place. The hoop will hold
the mouth open so that the wind can blow through from front to
back, making it fly.
Fasten string to
both sides of the hoop and tie a roll of long string to the
centre.
